Lodging

where to stay for the weekend

We recommend booking your stay ASAP!
September is one of the most popular months for weddings and for good reason. It’s absolutely gorgeous in the mountains: the leaves are turning, the weather is perfect, and oh, yeah, our wedding weekend just so happens to coincide with Oktoberfest🍻!

Where should I stay?
below are three options, but there are plenty of other hotels and Airbnbs in the area to explore.

please Note:
If you have elevation concerns, we suggest staying in Avon, which is at a lower elevation and closer to the wedding venue. For tips on managing elevation concerns, scroll to the bottom for more details.

The hythe hotel
The hythe hotel is where the shuttle will pick up and drop off on Saturday, making it a convenient option. It’s also just a short 15-minute scenic walk to downtown Vail, and if walking isn’t your thing, there’s a free shuttle and bus available from the hotel.

Glamping!
if you're looking for a unique colorado experience, and want to be as close to the wedding venue as possible— look no further! These tents are located on the property, and are actually how we found the venue.

to book: email mary@4eagleranch.com or
call 970-926-3372 ext 1005.

suggestions on what to wear

What should I wear to the weddinG?
"western formal"

THINK anything you’d typically wear to a wedding: suits, long dresses, jumpsuits, or dressy pantsuits.

That said, we’re getting married on a ranch in the mountains, so if you’ve ever wanted to channel your inner cowboy 🤠 with boots, a bolo tie, or a hat (we love it!), this is your moment. No pressure — just fun .

Confused? here is some inspo.

footwear tips
comfortable shoes are your friend. Think: block heels, wedges, cowboy boots, loafers, oxfords, etc.

there’s a gravel path to the ceremony, cocktail hour will be held on grass, and Dinner/dancing will take place indoors on concrete.

weather tips
September weather in the mountains can be a little bit of everything, so bring layers!

The average high is 67°F, but mornings and evenings can dip into the 30s. Last year it was 75° and sunny, so check the forecast as the date gets closer.

Elevation concerns

Colorado’s breathtaking landscapes come with higher elevations, but don’t worry — we’ve got you covered!

Denver: 5,280 feet
Vail: 8,150 feet
Avon: 7,431 feet
4 Eagle Ranch: 7,160 feet

Most people start to feel altitude sickness around 8,000 feet — both the town of Avon and the venue are below that threshold.

If you’re concerned about elevation, we recommend staying in Avon. The Westin is a great option, and it’s just a short drive to the venue.

How to PreparE for colorado:

1) Hydrate!
Start drinking extra water at least two weeks before  and continue throughout your stay.

2) Consider taking ginkgo biloba supplements, but talk to your doctor first!

3) Bring Electrolytes to help maintain balance and Snacks to keep your energy up.

4) Rest and Avoid strenuous activity during your first day or two to give your body time to adjust.

5) Take it easy with alcohol. Altitude can amplify its effects, so pace yourself.
